What is bahai?

The Bahá'í Faith is a monotheistic religion founded in the mid-19th century in Persia (now Iran). It teaches the unity of God, the unity of all religions, and the unity of all people. The Bahá'í Faith was founded by Bahá'u'lláh, who is considered by Bahá'ís to be the latest in a line of messengers of God that includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad.

The Bahá'í Faith emphasizes the spiritual unity of all humankind, the elimination of prejudice and the promotion of peace, and the essential harmony of science and religion. Bahá'ís believe in the equality of men and women and the elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth.

The Bahá'í Faith has grown to become a global religion, with followers in over 200 countries and territories around the world. The Bahá'í community is organized at the local, national, and international levels, and is governed by elected councils.

The central text of the Bahá'í Faith is the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, which was written by Bahá'u'lláh and is considered to be the most important book for Bahá'ís after the Holy Scriptures.
